Ms Madhu P Singh informed that recently the Anti Profiteering Authority has imposed heavy penalty on Hindustan Liver for not passing on the reduced GST to the consumers and the same is to be distributed amongst NGOs for consumer welfare activities. Our NGO should also bid for it. For this purpose, we should get ourselves registered with the Excise & Taxation Department of UT Chandigarh.
We should also get ourselves registered with the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and the Department of Food Safety, UT Chandigarh for getting grants for carrying out consumer welfare activities. The House accepted the suggestion and decided that the process of registration of our Association with these departments be initiated.
